Singer KK fell ill while performing at Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata, for Gurudas College’s fest. He returned to his hotel in Esplanade and collapsed after which he was rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at around 10:30 pm, where he was declared dead. He was 53. Condolences have been pouring in from the film and music industry. PM Narendra Modi too shared a heartfelt condolence on Twitter.
Mamata Banerjee pays last respects to Singer KK
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee paid her last respects to singer KK at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata. The family of the late singer was also present there. Following this, his mortal remains will leave for Mumbai for the last rites.
Kolkata Police have registered a case of unnatural death in connection with the sudden demise of singer KK. The case has been registered at the New Market police station. Kolkata Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Murlidhar Sharma arrived at The Oberoi Grand where singer KK was staying. Meanwhile, the family of the singer arrived in Kolkata today. The mortal remains of the singer were kept at SSKM hospital where the postmortem was done. The mortal remains of KK were handed over to the family after the postmortem.
Twitter poured with condolences for late singer
Twitter showered singer KK with condolences. Notably, the singer KK’s sudden death has shattered the music fraternity and many took to social media, expressing their grief over the news.
Taking to Twitter, Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee confirmed the news and tweeted: KK passed away. Can’t believe what I just heard. She was among the first ones to express her shock.
“Singer KK never smoked or drank! Led the most simple non controversial non media hyped life. Complete family man. Jab bhi mujhe mile he met with so much of love & kindness. God! Too unfair! OM SHANT”, Rahul Vaidya posted.
