The operation commenced following a skirmish with terrorists on Monday, during which two Army personnel sustained injuries. A cordon and search operation to track down terrorists suspected to be hiding in the forest area of Kalakote in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir entered the third day on Wednesday.
Two Army personnel were injured in a gunfight with terrorists on Monday, triggering the commencement of the operation.
“The search operation is going on in the area by security forces and police. A senior officer informed PTI that there has been no establishment of fresh contact in the area.
They are using technological and surveillance-gadgets to maintain vigilance and track down the suspected terrorists hiding in the forest belts.

On Monday, a joint team of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the Broh and Soom forest belts in Kalakote following information about suspicious movements.
They said that the terrorists fired at the troops in an attempt to break the cordon, leading to retaliatory fire and causing injuries to two Army personnel.
In response to this,they dispatched additional-reinforcements to seal off all potential escape routes and fortify the cordon around the area.
Rajouri and Poonch border districts in the Pir Panjal valley have witnessed heightened terrorist activity this year.
