Three days of relentless rain crippled Mumbai’s road and rail networks, disrupting travel across western Maharashtra. Flooding and landslides cut major transport routes, leaving thousands of commuters stranded across the region.
Authorities closed or restricted the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway, and Mumbai–Konkan route on Monday. A landslide blocked the newly opened Missing Link near Tunnel 2, forcing traffic diversions and lengthy delays. Officials later reopened the route after clearing nearly 100 tonnes of debris from the affected stretch. Waterlogging slowed traffic on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway despite continuous drainage efforts by emergency teams. Floodwaters trapped commuters near Nagothane on the Konkan route for more than twenty-four hours.
