In order to restore peace in the state, the BJP schedule tribe Morcha in Mizoram ask that the current Manipur government be overthrow and that President’s Rule be impose as soon as possible.
For peace to return to the adjoining state of Manipur, the Mizoram BJP unit has called for the imposition of President’s Rule.
According to a BJP-scheduled Tribe Morcha statement, since the ethnic unrest in Manipur began on May 3, more over 100 people have died.The ethnic violence, it claimed, had also resulted in the burning down of at least 220 churches.The BJP said that even in the wake of such massacres and the burning down of homes and places of worship, the majority society still attacks the minority.
The BJP tribe Morcha accused the Manipur government of responsible for ethnic violence and demanded the dissolution of the current government and the imposition of President’s Rule to restore peace. The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) reported that at least 106 tribal people were kill in the ethnic clash between the Meitei and Kuki communities, and 262 churches and 93 church administrative buildings were burn down.
Kuki community members held a demonstration in Churachandpur town, holding empty coffins to pay homage to ethnic violence victims and solidarity with survivors. Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticize President’s Rule as not a solution for peace in Manipur, stating violence has not been report since June 23.
