LPG Supply : Nanda Devi Tanker to Arrive at Gujarat Port Today

Another LPG Tanker, Nanda Devi, is set to arrive in India on Tuesday after the earlier arrival of Shivalik. The vessel is carrying over 47,000 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas. It has already entered Indian waters and is expected to reach Vadinar Port in Gujarat around 10 am. The tanker successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz despite rising tensions in the Middle East.

A day earlier, the LPG tanker Shivalik reached Mundra Port in Gujarat with more than 46,000 metric tons of LPG. The shipment was equivalent to about 32.4 lakh domestic cylinders of 14.2 kg each. Officials estimated that this quantity could meet nearly one day of India’s LPG import demand. The arrival provided temporary relief amid supply concerns.

Shipping Ministry Special Secretary Rajesh Kumar Sinha confirmed the movement of both vessels. He stated that Shivalik and Nanda Devi safely transited the Strait of Hormuz. He also assured that Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf region remain safe. According to officials, 24 Indian-flagged vessels are currently operating in the region without any reported incidents.

Authorities have planned further distribution after the arrival of Nanda Devi. Officials expect to send around 24,000 metric tons of LPG to Tamil Nadu. This move aims to support regions facing higher demand and supply pressure. The government continues to monitor logistics to ensure smooth distribution.

The arrival of both tankers is likely to stabilise LPG supply across the country. Several cities have reported long queues due to recent shortages. Small business owners, including restaurant and shop operators, have expressed concern over limited availability. Officials believe that fresh supplies will ease pressure and improve the overall situation.
