Indian Navy rescues Pakistani from hijacked vessel in Arabian Sea

The Indian Navy ship Sumitra successfully prevented a piracy attempt on the fishing vessel FV Iman along the eastern coast of Somalia, rescuing both the vessel Al Naeemi and its crew of 19 Pakistanis.

The Indian Navy executed another effective anti-piracy mission successfully

On Tuesday, the spokesperson announced that the INS Sumitra prevented a piracy incident off the eastern coast of Somalia, rescuing a vessel (FV Iman), 19 crew members, and deterring 11 armed Somali pirates. INS Sumitra conducted the operation, successfully rescuing the Iranian-flagged fishing vessel Iman and its 17 crew members from Somali pirates along the east coast of Somalia and the Gulf of Aden on Sunday night.

The Indian Navy, through its warship INS Sumitra, intercepted the vessel and followed established SOPs to compel the pirates to safely release the crew and the boat. It ensured the successful release of all 17 crew members and the boat. “After rescuing MV Iman, INS Sumitra was once again deployed to find and stop another Iranian-flagged fishing vessel that had been seized by pirates, and whose crew had been taken hostage,” stated the Indian Navy on Tuesday.
