India Steps Into US-Led Pax Silica as AI Diplomacy Gains Pace

India and the United States are likely to sign the Pax Silica declaration on Friday. The move comes a month after US ambassador Sergio Gor confirmed India would receive an invitation. The US-led initiative focuses on securing artificial intelligence and critical technology supply chains. Officials expect the agreement during high-level engagements surrounding the ongoing AI summit.

US Under Secretary of State Jacob Helberg arrived in New Delhi for the India AI Impact Summit. He is leading discussions on economic security and advanced technology cooperation. Senior officials from both countries are reviewing frameworks to strengthen resilient supply networks. Talks aim to accelerate collaboration across semiconductors, infrastructure, and emerging digital ecosystems.

Signing expected amid renewed momentum in Indo-US trade and tech ties.

The US State Department says the framework will unite friendly and trusted nations. Participating countries will work together to safeguard critical technologies from hostile control. Washington designed the initiative to ensure reliable access to essential technology components. Leaders emphasized transparency, security, and long-term sustainability in global supply chains.

The United States launched the strategic platform on December 12, 2025. Officials described it as a response to China’s dominance in global manufacturing networks. The plan seeks to reduce coercive dependencies across minerals, energy inputs, and advanced production. It also promotes secure semiconductor development, AI infrastructure expansion, and efficient logistics systems.

At launch, Washington named partners including Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Israel, United Arab Emirates, and Australia. India’s absence initially raised concerns about broader trade and diplomatic uncertainties. Subsequent diplomatic efforts reduced tensions and advanced the Indo-US trade framework discussions. India’s inclusion now strengthens cooperation in advanced technology, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence sectors.
