India Warns Pakistan After Naval Ship Collides With Indian Vessel

India has lodged a strong diplomatic protest with Pakistan after a Pakistani naval ship collided with an Indian Navy vessel in international waters. The Ministry of External Affairs summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi over the incident. Indian officials conveyed their serious concerns about the collision. The government said the incident posed a safety risk to Indian naval personnel. It also stressed the need to follow established maritime rules.

New Delhi Seeks Caution From Pakistani Military

The MEA described the Pakistani vessel’s conduct as reckless and unprofessional. India said the incident violated established navigation norms on the high seas. According to the MEA, the collision did not cause any major damage. However, India said the Pakistani naval ship acted contrary to Article 10 of the 1991 agreement between the two countries. The provision covers advance notice of military exercises, manoeuvres and troop movements.

India also asked Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires to convey its concerns to the relevant authorities. New Delhi urged Pakistani military units to exercise greater caution during operations. It also called on them to respect the provisions of existing agreements between the two countries. India said such measures are necessary to prevent similar incidents in the future. The Indian diplomatic mission in Islamabad has also been instructed to lodge a protest with Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.
