Several rivers and bridges in Maharashtra are nearing the “flood alert” and “danger” levels following the very heavy or extremely heavy rain spells during the past few days. Rivers in 37 riverside villages in the state were nearing the danger levels due to the heavy rain, a water resources department official said. The water levels in rivers such as Kundalika, Amba, Savitri, Ulhas, Vashishti, and Ulhas were nearing danger levels, the report indicated on Monday.
At present, there are at least more than 20 flood-prone locations in Pune, Marathwada, and Nagpur Divisions. 10 of those locations are in Pune. In the Gadchiroli district, three people have swept away in nullahs and their bodies were found it later.
