CM Shinde urges government workers to end their strike and declares that the government supports the OPS demand

Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, has appealed government workers who have been on an indefinite strike in support of the Old Pension Plan (OPS) to end their protest. He has emphasised that the government is supportive  and optimistic towards their demand. According to Shinde’s announcement on Tuesday, A committee to examine both old and new pension plans was also established. The Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act, 2023 was passed by the state Legislative Assembly on Tuesday in response to the walkout (MESMA).

Ports and Mines Minister Dada Bhuse, who also serves as the Nashik Guardian Minister, announced that the administration will meet with farmer representatives on Wednesday in an attempt to reach to an agreement on the complaints made by tribals and cultivators. In an effort to get fair pricing for their agricultural commodities, dozens of farmers, led by the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), have embarked on a 200-km march from Nashik to Mumbai.

In other developments, on the night between Monday and Tuesday, a few scattered areas of Mumbai were hit by light rain and thunderstorms. The amount of rainfall was also below the measurable limit, according to IMD officials, despite the relatively modest intensity. Leading IMD personnel claimed that the interplay of the dry and rainy winds was something that caused the rain. They warned that isolated areas of Mumbai and several regions of Maharashtra might just get rain over the course of the following three to four days.
