Minor Sisters Leap From 9th Floor in Suspected Online Korean Game Challenge Case

Police said three minor sisters died after they jumped from the ninth floor of their apartment building in Ghaziabad in the early hours of Wednesday. The incident occurred around 2 am at Bharat City residential township. Police identified the girls as Pakhi (12), Prachi (14), and Vishika (16), daughters of Chetan Kumar. Officials said the sisters shared an extremely close bond and did almost all daily activities together, including going to school, eating meals, and spending time at home.

Investigators suspect a disagreement with their parents over excessive online gaming may have preceded the incident. Police said the girls developed an addiction to a task-based Korean online game during the COVID-19 pandemic and adopted Korean names while playing. Officials added that the sisters attended school irregularly, and the eldest sibling struggled academically, which may have contributed to tensions at home.

Sisters jumped from 9th floor of Ghaziabad apartment

Police said the sisters locked their room from inside and jumped out of the window one after another. Security guards and neighbours rushed to the spot after hearing a loud noise and informed the family. Ambulances took the girls to a hospital in Loni, where doctors declared them dead. The sisters left behind a suicide note apologising to their parents and referring to an eight-page diary describing their gaming activity. Police seized the diary and said they are continuing the investigation and completing legal formalities.
