CNG prices in Delhi increased once again on May 26, with the revised rate reaching ₹83.09 per kg. This latest revision marks the fourth increase in the past two weeks and adds to the financial burden on vehicle owners and transport operators. Oil marketing companies implemented the new rates amid rising pressure from global energy markets. The revised prices came into effect from 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
The current hike follows a series of increases earlier this month. Companies raised CNG prices by ₹2 per kg on May 15 and followed it with additional revisions on May 18 and May 23. These successive increases have pushed fuel costs significantly higher within a short period. Consumers and commercial transport operators are closely monitoring further developments in pricing.

CNG prices have also remained elevated in other major urban centres. Rates in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad stand at ₹89.70 per kg following earlier revisions. Mumbai has also recorded higher prices, with CNG currently retailing at ₹84 per kg. However, authorities have not revised domestic LPG cylinder prices or piped natural gas rates supplied to households so far.
Industry experts attribute the latest increase to rising international crude oil prices and growing pressure on energy supply chains. Volatility in global commodity markets has increased procurement costs for fuel suppliers. Energy companies continue to assess market conditions while balancing operational expenses. Analysts believe future price movements will depend largely on global supply and demand trends.
Geopolitical tensions in West Asia have further intensified concerns across international energy markets. Uncertainty surrounding major oil transportation routes has raised fears of supply disruptions and contributed to market volatility. At the same time, petrol and diesel prices have also witnessed multiple increases in recent days. The combined rise in fuel costs is expected to affect commuters, transport services and overall operating expenses in several cities.
