A doctor who performed the autopsy stated that the chick blocked both the airway and food passage, likely leading to asphyxiation.
In a suspected occult ritual, a 35-year-old man from Chhattisgarh passed away after allegedly swallowing a live chick, leaving doctors puzzled.
The victim, Anand Yadav from Chhindkalo village in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, collapsed at home shortly after bathing.
His family reported that he felt dizzy before losing consciousness, leading them to quickly take him to a nearby hospital.
During the post-mortem, doctors were initially uncertain about the cause of death. However, an incision near Yadav’s throat revealed a live chick, approximately 20 cm long, lodged inside.
Dr. Santu Bag, who carried out the autopsy, explained that the chick had blocked both the airway and food passage, likely leading to asphyxiation.
“This is the first time I’ve encountered such a case in my career,” Dr. Bag, who has conducted over 15,000 post-mortems, told indiatoday.in.
Villagers believed that occult practices connected to the strange circumstances of Yadav’s death. Some locals claimed that Yadav had been in touch with a ‘tantrik’ (occultist) and had been facing infertility issues.
Villagers suspect that he may have swallowed the chick as part of a ritual to fulfill his wish of becoming a father.
The local police have begun an investigation to determine the precise cause of the incident.
