Bulldozer Action at Fahim Khan’s House

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation team reached Fahim Khan’s house, a key accused in the Nagpur violence who has been booked for sedition. On Monday, the Municipal Corporation of Maharashtra’s Nagpur took bulldozer action against one of the accused in the recent violence in the city. The violence erupted after “rumours” spread that protesters, led by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), had burnt a ‘chadar’ with religious inscriptions while demanding the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation Demolishes Fahim Khan’s Illegal Structure Amid Violence Arrests

A few days back, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation issued a notice to Khan, citing various lapses and lack of the building plan approval (for his house), sources said. The PTI report cited officials who said that Fahim Khan’s wife owns the house, located at Sanjay Bagh Colony in Yashodhara Nagar area of Nagpur. On Saturday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that authorities would recover the cost of properties damaged during the violence from the rioters, and failure to pay would result in the seizure and sale of their properties to recover the losses.

The clashes resulted in widespread stone-pelting and arson across several parts of the city, leaving 33 police personnel, including three Deputy Commissioner of Police-rank officers, injured. Fadnavis who also heads the Home Ministry, said, “I will not rest until the authorities find those responsible for attacking the police and deal with them sternly.”
