New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has extended his support to climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar. Speaking on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Kejriwal expressed concern over Wangchuk’s deteriorating health and urged him to end his indefinite hunger strike. He described Wangchuk as a valuable asset to the country and said the nation needs individuals who dedicate their aap lives to public service and environmental causes. Kejriwal stressed that protecting Wangchuk’s health is equally important while continuing the movement for his demands. He appealed to the activist not to risk his life and encouraged him to adopt alternative democratic methods to continue the campaign.
Health concerns grow as Sonam Wangchuk continues indefinite fast
The AAP chief said that every citizen has the constitutional right to raise concerns through peaceful and democratic means. According to him, protests play an important role in a democracy, but prolonged hunger strikes can seriously affect an individual’s health. Kejriwal emphasized that there are several effective ways to continue a public movement without endangering one’s life. He urged Wangchuk to consider ending his fast while carrying forward his mission through dialogue, public outreach and other peaceful forms of protest.
