Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has delivered a strong message of defiance, insisting that his country will not surrender territory to secure a ceasefire. Speaking in Kyiv, he said Ukraine would emerge victorious despite Russia’s continued offensive. He rejected Moscow’s demand that Ukraine withdraw from strategic areas Russia has failed to capture. Zelensky argued that conceding land would weaken Ukraine’s position and betray citizens living in occupied regions. He emphasized that the war is about sovereignty, not just territory.
Zelensky accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of already triggering a wider global conflict. He said only sustained military and economic pressure can force Moscow to retreat. According to him, Russia aims to reshape global norms and impose its own vision on other nations. He warned that any pause in fighting would only allow Russia to regroup. Zelensky believes Putin would resume aggression within a few years if given the opportunity. He stressed that stopping Russia now is essential for global security.
Addressing the possibility of territorial concessions, Zelensky firmly opposed handing over parts of Donetsk, Kherson, or Zaporizhzhia. He said surrendering these regions would divide Ukrainian society and abandon hundreds of thousands of citizens. While acknowledging the heavy cost of reclaiming all occupied land immediately, he maintained that restoring Ukraine’s 1991 borders remains the ultimate goal. He described victory as preserving independence and ensuring justice. Zelensky added that land without people holds no real value.

Zelensky warns Putin must be stopped
Zelensky also responded to international pressure, particularly from the United States, to consider negotiations and possible elections. He dismissed claims that Ukraine cannot win the war and reiterated that his country is fighting for independence. He said long-term security guarantees must come from stable institutions, not individual leaders. Zelensky noted that any credible security framework would require approval beyond a single presidency. He made clear that elections could only take place once security conditions allow.
Despite facing military challenges and political criticism, Zelensky continues to project resilience. He acknowledged shortages in air defense systems and called for permission to produce advanced weapons domestically. He admitted frustration over delays in licensing critical systems like Patriot missiles. Still, he expressed confidence that a combination of diplomatic and military strategies would yield success. Zelensky concluded that Ukraine’s primary objective remains clear: to stop Putin and secure lasting peace
