Nearly 200 whales have died after being found stranded on a remote beach on the west coast of Tasmania in Australia.
Yesterday, a pod of about 230 whales were stranded on Ocean Beach, near the town of Strahan, and some were also stranded on land at Macquarie Harbour.
Brandon Clark, an incident controller, confirmed that the majority of the whales had died while speaking with the Guardian. Mr Clark added: “We positioned them overnight … so that we could assess them this morning.
In 2020, 470 whales were trapped at Macquarie Harbour, considered the worst standing ever to occur in Australia.
However, the reasoning for the whale standings remains a “mystery” according to the scientist,
