William Walsh appointed IndiGo CEO after Elbers’ exit

IndiGo announced a major leadership change on Tuesday and named former British Airways chief William Walsh as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The airline will complete the appointment after getting regulatory approvals. Walsh will finish his tenure at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on July 31, 2026. He will then join IndiGo by August 3, 2026. This transition marks an important moment for the airline as it prepares for its next growth phase.

Walsh holds a strong reputation in global aviation and brings decades of experience. He currently leads IATA as Director General and represents airlines worldwide. Earlier, he led British Airways and International Airlines Group (IAG) as CEO. He also handled large-scale airline operations and complex business challenges.
