Trump’s Nuclear Test Claim on Pakistan China Triggers Worry in India

US President Donald Trump has claimed that Pakistan and China are secretly conducting underground nuclear weapons tests. In a recent interview on CBS’s 60 Minutes, Trump also named Russia and North Korea, saying all four nations were carrying out covert detonations despite global restrictions. He justified his decision to resume American nuclear testing after a 33-year moratorium, arguing that the United States must maintain strategic superiority. Trump said these nations conduct their tests far underground to escape detection by global seismic monitoring systems. He remarked that while the US operates transparently, others “don’t talk about it” and face little scrutiny.

Trump warns of Pakistan and China’s nuclear tests, raising concerns for India.

According to Trump, such secretive activities have allowed rival nations to advance their nuclear capabilities without consequence, creating an uneven strategic balance. During the interview, Trump further claimed that India and Pakistan were on the brink of a nuclear war earlier this year. He said he intervened through diplomatic pressure and trade threats to prevent what could have been a devastating regional conflict. “If I hadn’t stepped in, millions would have died,” Trump stated, emphasizing his role in de-escalating the situation.

Analysts say Trump’s revelations could heighten India’s security concerns, as the country faces two nuclear-armed adversaries on its borders. India follows a strict no-first-use policy and has not conducted any nuclear tests since 1998. In contrast, Pakistan and China continue to modernize their arsenals and expand their delivery systems. Experts warn that if these allegations prove true, New Delhi may face renewed pressure to validate its nuclear deterrent. Trump’s remarks have reignited debates on nuclear parity, deterrence credibility, and India’s possible need for technological advancement in its strategic weapons program.
