Modi has repeatedly emphasized dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred ways to resolve international conflicts. During his recent meeting with Putin, Modi again stressed the importance of peaceful negotiations. He said countries must move away from endless war and work toward lasting peace. Modi has maintained this position during meetings with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. India has consistently called for dialogue while encouraging all sides to pursue diplomatic solutions. Modi first delivered his widely cited “not an era of war” message in 2022. He made that statement while meeting Putin during an international summit in Uzbekistan.
