Pope Francis Passes Away: His Final Message to the World Revealed

Pope Francis, the first Latin American to lead the Catholic Church and widely known as the “pope of the slums” for his advocacy for the poor and criticism of capitalism, passed away on Monday at the age of 88 following a long illness.

As the world mourns the loss of Pope Francis today, his final Easter message — a heartfelt plea for peace and freedom — now resonates as a powerful farewell to humanity. Delivered on Easter Sunday from the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem—where Catholics and Orthodox Christians united in celebration this year—his message urged an end to the war in Ukraine and called for global peace.

Pope Francis’ final appeal for peace in Ukraine

In his Easter message, Pope Francis stated that peace cannot exist without freedom of religion, thought, and expression, as well as respect for differing opinions. He emphasized that true disarmament is essential for peace, warning that the need for self-defense should not escalate into an arms race.

“May the risen Christ grant Ukraine, devastated by war, his Easter gift of peace, and encourage all parties involved to pursue efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace,” said Pope.

Pope prayed for the people of Myanmar and Sudan

“During this time, let us not fail to assist the people of Myanmar, plagued by long years of armed conflict, who, with courage and patience, are dealing with the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Sagaing, which caused the death of thousands and great suffering for the many survivors, including orphans and the elderly,” the message read.

“We pray for the victims and their loved ones, and we heartily thank all the generous volunteers carrying out the relief operations. The announcement of a ceasefire by various actors in the country is a sign of hope for the whole of Myanmar,” he added.

The Pope prayed, “May the risen Christ, our hope, bring peace and comfort to the people of Africa suffering from violence and conflict, particularly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, and South Sudan.”
