India strongly criticised Pakistan for making groundless comments regarding Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as politically motivated and lacking factual basis.

India denounced these remarks as yet another habitual effort by Pakistan to deflect attention from serious ongoing violations against children within its own borders.

Speaking during the United Nations Security Council’s debate on Children and Armed Conflict, India’s Deputy Representative to the United Nations, R. Ravindra, reiterated that the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inseparable parts of India.

Ravindra statements followed remarks by Pakistan’s representative during the UNSC debate

Before concluding his remarks during the debate, R. Ravindra stated, “In the interest of time, let me briefly respond to remarks that were clearly politically motivated and without basis, made by a representative against my country. I unequivocally reject and condemn these unfounded remarks with the contempt they deserve.”

“This is simply another routine attempt to divert attention from the serious violations against children ongoing in his own country, as highlighted in this year’s Secretary General’s report on children and armed conflict. Regarding the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, they have been, are, and will always remain integral and inseparable parts of India, regardless of the beliefs or wishes of this particular representative or his country,” he added.

His statements followed remarks by Pakistan’s representative during the UNSC debate that referenced Jammu and Kashmir.
