Social media accounts allegedly operated from Pakistan were used to spread misleading information and trigger workers’s unrest in Noida, Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh said on Thursday.
62 Held in Noida Unrest; Pakistan-Based X Handles Under Probe
Police have arrested 62 people in connection with a widespread workers’ agitation over a wage hike in Noida.Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh said a technical analysis revealed that operators in Pakistan were running the X handles ‘@Proudindiannavi’ and ‘@Mir_Ilyas_INC’ using VPNs. She added that the investigation is ongoing.
Police said that on April 13, these accounts circulated misleading posts to disturb public peace and law and order. The content sparked fear and outrage among residents across the district. A mob then engaged in stone-pelting, injured several people, and carried out arson and vandalism targeting vehicles, private property, and public assets.
Police registered an FIR at Sector 20 Police Station on April 13 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act against the two social media handles and launched a probe..

Noida Unrest: 62 Held, Situation Normal Now
The police commissioner said violence broke out at two locations, and authorities identified most of those involved as outsiders. She added that police are taking strict action against such elements and will also initiate proceedings under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
Police have arrested 62 people, including those allegedly involved in rioting and arson, and registered 13 cases in connection with the incidents.
