Pakistan Airlifts Fighter Jets to Middle East as US-Iran Talks Near

All eyes are on Islamabad this weekend as it prepares to host one of the most significant diplomatic engagements in recent years—high-stakes talks between the United States and Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict. Anticipating global scrutiny and potential risks, Pakistan has stepped up its preparations, deploying an extensive air presence across the Middle East. With tensions still simmering despite a temporary ceasefire, the country is prioritizing security at every level.

Pakistan deploys air shield for US-Iran talks security

Pakistan has launched one of its largest peacetime air operations to safeguard the visiting Iranian delegation. The Pakistan Air Force has mobilized fighter jets, C-130 transport aircraft, refuelling tankers, and AWACS to establish a strong aerial shield. Officials are particularly focused on protecting Iranian aircraft from any possible external threats, including concerns over Israeli interference. This large-scale deployment reflects Pakistan’s intent to ensure uninterrupted and secure diplomatic proceedings.

The urgency behind these measures stems from Pakistan’s recent diplomatic role in brokering a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran, reportedly with support from China. Now, Islamabad aims to build on that momentum by facilitating a long-term resolution. Authorities have tightened security across key areas of the capital and activated advanced air defence systems in sensitive regions. Officials have emphasized that they have implemented a comprehensive strategy to guarantee the safety of all international delegates.

Meanwhile, senior leaders including JD Vance and Iranian representatives are expected to lead their respective delegations. The talks could mark the highest-level direct engagement between the two nations since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. However, rising tensions involving Benjamin Netanyahu and Pakistani officials have added further complexity. Against this backdrop, Pakistan has reinforced its aerial security framework to prevent disruptions and ensure the success of the negotiations.
