The New Yorker magazine dubbed Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy the “CEO of Anti-Woke Inc” when he announced his 2024 US presidential election bid, joining Nikki Haley in the Republican Party’s presidential primary. The number of Indian-Americans appointed to high-level positions has increased rapidly in recent years, with Kamala Harris, the US vice president, being the most prominent example.
Ramaswamy ran for president on the promise of “restoring merit” and ending reliance on China. He filed a statement of candidature and established a presidential committee with the Federal Election Commission.
