India will undoubtedly become a permanent member of the UNSC, according to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, on Tuesday. The world community believes that India should hold this post, but the nation will need to put in more effort this time around.
During a conversation he was having with intellectuals in Rajkot, Gujarat, the audience asked him about India’s prospects of joining the world body permanently.

Highlights Persistent Inequities in UN Security Council Membership
Five countries—China, France, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, and the United States—voted among themselves to become permanent members of the UNSC when it was founded about 80 years ago, according to Jaishankar.

According to him, there were roughly 50 sovereign nations in the world at the time, but that number has since risen to roughly 193. However, these five countries have maintained their dominance, so it seems odd that we need their approval before making any changes. A few concur, a few honestly state their case, and even others act covertly,” the speaker stated.

Jaishankar Expresses Concern over Custody Case of Indian Girl in Germany
In response to a question concerning the infant girl Ariha Shah, who was remove from her Indian parents by German authorities and place in foster care, Jaishankar said he was keeping a close eye on the situation.

“Child services has received the girl. This does not satisfy us. The youngster should not be raised in accordance with German culture. The minister stated, “Her parents have move the court, and the matter is being hear. “I have brought up the matter with my colleague at my level. Jaishankar Highlights India’s Economic Resilience and Global Potential at Event
In his speech at the function, Jaishankar stated that India has demonstrated the effectiveness of democracy over the past ten years. He remarked that despite the COVID-19 pandemic impeding growth, the world is in awe of India’s progress towards 7% growth.

He stated, “The world believes that India, with its largest economy growing at the fastest rate, can become the engine of global growth.” He continued, “The world knows that India has technological talent.”
The external affairs minister added, “International organisations like the UN recognise India’s accomplishments in social sectors like access to water, electricity, roads, health, schooling, etc.”
