How the 9 Targets in Pakistan Hit During Operation Sindoor Supported Terrorism

India targeted nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir based on intelligence suggesting these sites were actively involved in supporting terrorist activities within India, according to counter-terrorism officials.

Covert Military and Intelligence Support to Terror Outfits by Pakistan

The Pakistan Army and its Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency have been covertly aiding anti-India terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen, among others. They provide systematically coordinated financial, logistical, doctrinal, and military assistance, along with direct combat training, officials said. Commanders of these groups have also used these facilities to deliver anti-India speeches for instance, JeM chief Masood Azhar’s address at Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur in December 2024.

Military Supervision and Rebranding of Terror Groups to Evade Scrutiny

Pakistani military officers regularly visit and supervise sessions at training camps run by these groups, which have rebranded themselves as The Resistance Front (TRF), People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), Kashmir Tigers (KT), and others to evade global scrutiny and present their terrorism as an indigenous resistance movement. These groups receive key support through infrastructure that they conceal within government facilities.

Terror Camps Operating Near Military Zones Under Civilian Disguise

Terrorist groups are currently operating several training camps and launch pads near army installations and cantonment areas, often disguising them as Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs). They have received military-grade communication equipment. According to officials, these groups use targets like Sarjal–Tehra Kalan to host high-frequency communication setups for planning and coordinating with infiltrated terrorists.

Institutional Support for Terror Activities Within Pakistan

Institutions deep inside Pakistan, such as Markaz Taiba of LeT in Muridke and Markaz Subhan Allah of JeM in Bahawalpur, actively carry out religious indoctrination and support activities like funding, propaganda, and recruitment. Senior commanders reside at these locations, which also function as key centers for radicalization and training in intelligence and weapons handling.
