Pakistan claims India may launch military action within 24-36 hours amid rising tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar held an emergency press conference at 2 am to address the situation. He warned of “catastrophic consequences” if Indian forces proceed with any military action against Pakistan.
Tarar said India is planning a military offensive against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours. He warned that any Indian action would be met with full force and strong retaliation. Pakistan will protect its land at all costs and respond with full strength, he added. The nation will defend its sovereignty and borders by every possible means, Tarar emphasized. If India starts a war, it will be fully responsible for the destruction and consequences, he said.

The minister claimed India gave no proof of Pakistan’s role in the Pahalgam massacre. He said Indian forces planned attacks based on false and baseless allegations. At least 26 civilians were killed by terrorists in Baisaran, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22.
Tarar said Pakistan strongly rejects India’s habit of acting as judge, jury, and executioner. His statement comes amid repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control. Pakistani forces have been provoking Indian soldiers guarding the boundary with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif also warned of a possible war with India during a media interview yesterday. He told Geo News that any conflict could begin within the next two or three days. Tarar’s statement followed Prime Minister Modi giving armed forces full freedom to choose India’s response to the Pahalgam attack.

Earlier, PM Modi warned that India would find and punish the Pahalgam attackers, no matter where they hide. Tensions rose after both nations took strong steps following the Pahalgam massacre. India downgraded diplomatic ties and suspended the 1960 Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan. India also revoked all visas issued to Pakistani citizens after the terror attack. Additionally, the Wagah-Attari border crossing between the two countries has been closed.
