Rain prevented everyone from judging India’s decision to play three spinners on a green surface. Morne Morkel feared rain would make the ball skid during England’s innings under overcast conditions. He believed dry conditions would have suited India’s bowling plans and spin attack much better. Abhishek Sharma smashed four sixes and scored a brilliant 24-ball 59 for India confidently. Shreyas Iyer handled England’s spinners expertly and scored an impressive 47-ball 68 as captain.
