Massive Hindu Protest March Held in Dhaka, Jai Shri Ram Chants Echo

Thousands of Hindus gathered in Dhaka protesting the alleged desecration of a Lord Ram image recently. Protesters carried torches, raised slogans, and demanded immediate arrests of those responsible for the controversial incident. Demonstrators also opposed the suspension of the proposed 81-foot-tall Lord Ram statue project in Bangladesh. Large crowds marched from Shahbagh intersection toward the National Press Club under strict security arrangements on Friday.

Protest Over Alleged Desecration Sparks Outrage in Dhaka

The controversy started after reports claimed radical groups desecrated a picture of Lord Ram during recent tensions. Organisers connected the incident with opposition against the construction of the massive Lord Ram statue project recently. Authorities later halted construction work after temple committee members reportedly received threats from extremist organisations in Bangladesh. Community leaders claimed the decision deeply hurt religious sentiments among Hindus living across several Bangladeshi regions today.

Several Hindu organisations, student groups, and activists participated in demonstrations demanding stronger protection for minority communities nationwide. Protesters formed human chains near the National Press Club and continued chanting “Jai Shri Ram” throughout demonstrations. Another group gathered near the Dhaka Reporters Unity building and staged peaceful protests demanding immediate government action. Organisers criticised authorities for failing to arrest suspects despite police registering an official case regarding the incident earlier.

Minority Rights Concerns Rise After Lord Ram Statue Project Halted

The protests once again highlighted concerns regarding minority rights and religious freedom within Muslim-majority Bangladesh recently. Human rights activists frequently raised concerns over attacks targeting Hindu temples, cultural centres, and minority religious communities nationwide. Community representatives warned that repeated incidents create fear and insecurity among minorities living in different Bangladeshi districts today. Political observers noted that growing public demonstrations reflect increasing frustration among minority groups demanding equal constitutional protections nationwide.

Government officials stated investigations remain ongoing while security forces maintained heavy deployment across important locations in central Dhaka. Hindu organisations announced they would continue peaceful protests until authorities arrest those responsible for the alleged desecration incident. Religious leaders urged supporters to remain calm while continuing democratic demonstrations demanding justice and religious freedom protections nationwide. The controversy has intensified discussions regarding communal harmony, minority safety, and equal rights protections within Bangladesh currently.
