President Biden is scheduled to visit Israel tomorrow

US President Joe Biden is set to visit Israel on Wednesday to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that during the visit, Biden will emphasize Israel’s right to self-defense, and this comes after extensive discussions with Netanyahu. The visit aims to reaffirm the strong bond between the US and Israel, and many have widely anticipated Israel’s potential ground assault in Gaza.

Biden will emphasize Israel’s right and responsibility to protect its citizens from Hamas and other terrorists, as stated by Blinken after extensive discussions with Israel’s war cabinet in Tel Aviv. While in these discussions, Blinken had to take cover in a shelter for a brief five minutes due to sirens.

He mentioned that Israel would provide President Biden with an overview of their military objectives and tactics, emphasizing their commitment to conducting operations with a focus on reducing harm to civilian populations and ensuring the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza without benefiting Hamas.

The US and Israel have come to an agreement to create a strategy that facilitates the delivery of humanitarian assistance from donor countries and international bodies to the people in Gaza, according to Blinken. Prior to this, Iran’s foreign minister cautioned that Israel’s actions in Gaza would have repercussions, and he raised the possibility of “preemptive action” in the hours ahead.

The Iranian leadership denied involvement in the Hamas attack on Israel. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei characterized Israel’s response as an “irreparable” military and intelligence defeat. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi emphasized that while Tehran supported the Palestinian cause, the resistance front against Israel made independent decisions.
