The security warning in Islamabad was upgraded to its highest level on Monday, and the Saudi Arabian embassy in Pakistan advised its people to take precautions.
The authorities in the country’s capital, Islamabad, have raised the security alert to the highest level, according to a statement from the embassy that was posted on Twitter. “The embassy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques would like to warn all citizens residing and visiting the Islamic Republic of Pakistan of the need to take caution and not go out except for necessity,” Arab News reported citing the embassy statement. It also advised contacting the Karachi embassy or general consulate in an emergency.
US embassy’s alert regarding potential terror threat
Saudi Arabia made its announcement at the same time that Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom all issued travel advisories for Pakistan. The Marriott Hotel in Islamabad may pose a terror threat to US people, according to the US embassy in Pakistan, which also forbade American personnel from entering the five-star establishment.
The US embassy issued a security notice after receiving information that “unknown individuals are possibly preparing to assault Americans at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad sometime during the holidays.” The warning forbade its American employees from going to the well-known hotel over the holidays.
