55 Chinese sailors were suffocated to death

Fifty-five Chinese sailors were thought to be dead in the middle of the Yellow Sea. According to a private report by the British authorities, the oxygen systems within the Chinese PLA naval submarine “093-417” ceased working, which resulted in the suffocation deaths of the Chinese officials there.

The Daily Mail noted that China, however, distanced itself from the assertions made in the classified assessment. Additionally, it made no requests for international assistance in the wake of the disastrous failure.

The UK gathered intelligence about the stricken submarine on August 21, according to The Daily Mail. In the public realm, outside of intelligence, there is no other independent confirmation of the purported disappearance of the Chinese submarine.

A British submariner provided an explanation of the incident to The Mail, saying, “If they were trapped on the net system and the submarine’s batteries were running flat (plausible), then eventually the air purifiers and air treatment systems could have failed.”
