The Puri Police have announced a detailed traffic and parking plan for the Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026 to manage the expected surge of devotees. Authorities have created separate routes and parking facilities for two-wheelers, light motor vehicles (LMVs), regular buses, and tourist buses arriving from Bhubaneswar, Konark, and Brahmagiri. The advisory aims to reduce congestion and ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims throughout the festival. Police have urged visitors to follow the designated routes and cooperate with officials deployed on duty.

No-Vehicle Zone Around Shrimandir; Devotees Asked to Follow Traffic Guidelines
For two-wheelers, police have assigned specific routes based on the direction of travel. Vehicles arriving from Brahmagiri and Bhubaneswar must pass through Mangala Ghat Chowk, Mashanichandi Chowk, and Devighat Chowk before reaching the Jagannath Ballabh parking area. If that parking facility reaches capacity, riders will be directed to the Matitota Sports Ground and then the Matitota Helipad Ground. Two-wheelers coming from Konark will use Baidas Nagar Chowk, Grid Station Chowk, and Subhash Bose Chowk before parking at Blue Flag Beach or the Nilachal Ashok area.
The administration has also introduced separate parking arrangements for light motor vehicles. Cars arriving from Brahmagiri will park at the Samang parking lot, while those coming from Bhubaneswar and Konark will be directed to the Talbania parking zone. The Talbania area includes several designated parking locations, such as the Bhoodan parking lot, Vidhan Sabha Guest House, ITI campus, helipad, indoor stadium, horticulture grounds, and the Clean Fish Market complex. These arrangements aim to streamline traffic and minimize delays.
Separate Routes and Parking Arranged for Two-Wheelers, Cars, and Buses
Regular and tourist buses will also follow dedicated routes during the Rath Yatra. Buses from Bhubaneswar will travel through Satyabadi, Chandanpur, and Malatipatpur before reaching the Talbania bus stand. If the bus stand becomes full, buses will drop passengers near Bhudan Chowk and proceed to an alternate parking area near the Swaminarayan Temple. Tourist buses from Brahmagiri will park at Samang, those from Bhubaneswar at Malatipatpur bus stand, and buses from Konark near the Swaminarayan Temple
To maintain crowd safety, authorities have declared the stretch from Doctorkhana Chowk to the Shrimandir along Badadanda as a complete no-vehicle zone. Public vehicles will also remain prohibited on several connecting roads leading to the temple, including routes from Yatrika, Digabareni Chowk, Jhadeshwari Chowk, Jail Road, Brushabha Chowk, Solabhaga Banyan Tree, and Mochisahi. Only emergency vehicles will receive permission to enter these restricted areas. Police have appealed to devotees to strictly follow the advisory and use only the approved routes and parking zones.
