Comedian Samay Raina attended a Maharashtra Cyber felicitation ceremony in Mumbai and quickly turned the formal event into a light-hearted comedy session. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended the event along with several film and entertainment personalities. Raina joked about his previous interactions with Maharashtra Cyber and had the audience laughing. He thanked the department for honouring him and recalled his long-running connection with the agency. His humorous remarks created an unusual but entertaining moment during the ceremony.
Raina Jokes About Maharashtra Cyber
Raina also joked about the national cybercrime helpline number 1930, saying he had received calls from it several times. He praised Maharashtra Cyber for being highly active and joked that the agency could find people whether they stayed in India or abroad. His comments left Fadnavis and other celebrities, including Pankaj Tripathi and Sharad Kelkar, laughing. Raina then recalled how a Cyber Cell officer had once visited his home for questioning. He contrasted that experience with his latest appearance, where the same department invited him to accept an honour.
Raina’s remarks carried a clear reference to the controversy surrounding his YouTube comedy show India’s Got Latent. The controversy erupted in February 2025 after an episode featuring Ranveer Allahbadia sparked widespread outrage over an offensive remark. Authorities received multiple complaints, and Maharashtra Cyber summoned Raina for questioning. Raina eventually appeared before the agency in Mumbai and recorded his statement. The controversy became a major turning point for the comedian and brought intense public attention to his show.

India’s Got Latent Returns
Following the controversy, Raina removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube and largely stayed away from the public spotlight during the legal proceedings. More than a year later, he has returned with the second season of the show. New episodes are now being released through YouTube and Netflix. His latest appearance at the Maharashtra Cyber event created an ironic full-circle moment, as he moved from facing questions from the agency to receiving recognition from it.
Maharashtra Cyber honoured Raina along with several entertainment personalities for contributing to a cyber-awareness short film and anthem. The event also featured actors such as Pankaj Tripathi, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sharad Kelkar and Sonali Bendre, along with singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Mangesh Desai. Fadnavis highlighted the role of artists and entertainers in spreading awareness about cybercrime. Raina, meanwhile, used the occasion to turn his own unusual history with Maharashtra Cyber into comedy, leaving the audience and the Chief Minister entertained.
