Raja Kumari is delving deeper into Indian music. Following her performance in the title track of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan,” she has now ventured into Punjabi music for the first time, lending her vocals to Guru Randhawa’s latest release, “In Love.”
Kumari expressed her excitement about her venture into Punjabi music, describing it as a deeply personal journey. In 2021, she collaborated with the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala on a track called “Us,” which featured an English rap segment written by Moosewala and performed by Kumari.

Kumari reflects on her special bond with Sidhu, describing how he served as a source of inspiration for her. They had plans for a second song together, during which Sidhu expressed his desire to hear Kumari sing in Punjabi, believing her voice would complement the language beautifully.

However, after Sidhu’s untimely passing in May 2022, Kumari was unsure if she would ever have the opportunity to fulfill his wish and sing in Punjabi.
Kumari expresses her gratitude towards Guru Randhawa
Kumari, born into a Telugu family and raised in the US, has developed a deep affection for Punjabi. She is overjoyed that she had the opportunity to sing in the language.
Her recent collaboration with Randhawa on the track “In Love” explores the theme of a man enamored with a strong woman, a concept that deeply resonates with Kumari herself.

Kumari expresses her gratitude towards Guru for providing her with ample freedom and opportunity to not only learn Punjabi but also to explore and experiment with it extensively. She admires his precision and creativity, describing him as a “machine” whose output is always polished and enjoyable.

Impressed by his writing style, Kumari shared her desire to embark on a new endeavor that would challenge her abilities, and Guru supported her in this pursuit.
