Kangana Ranaut Sets New Release Date for Indira Gandhi Biopic “Emergency”

Kangana Ranaut, actor-turned-politician, announced the release date for her upcoming film “Emergency.” On Tuesday, she posted a new poster on Instagram, featuring herself as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the role she plays in the film. Kangana Ranaut previously spoke about the film, as reported by ANI. She said, “Emergency represents one of the most critical and darkest chapters in our history, a story that young India must learn about. It’s an essential narrative, and I am grateful to my immensely talented actors like the late Satish ji, Anupam ji, Shreyas, Mahima, and Milind for joining me on this creative journey. I am thrilled to bring this remarkable episode from India’s history to the big screen. Jaihind!”

The poster showcases Kangana as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, looking away from the camera. The film is set to release on September 6, 2024. Last month, the release date was postponed due to the Lok Sabha Elections. Kangana Ranaut, who stars as the lead actor, also serves as the writer, director, and producer of “Emergency,” under the Manikarnika Films Production banner. The film, previously set for November 24, 2023, has faced multiple delays. “Emergency,” backed by Zee Studios and produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana, portrays a pivotal moment in India’s political history.
