The second-highest civilian award for extraordinary and outstanding service, the Padma Vibhushan, was given to veteran performers Vyjayanthimala Bala and Konidela Chiranjeevi on Thursday.

Vyjayantimala, regarded as one of the best performers and dancers in Indian cinema, dominated the country’s screens in the 1950s and 1960s. She appeared in films such as “Devdas,” “Naya Daur,” “Aasha,” “Sadhna,” “Gunga Jumna,” “Sangam,” and “Jewel Thief.” She has also had a few Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada cinema roles.

The Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian distinction, was given to Vyjayantimala in 1968. Her final Hindi film was “Ganwaar” in 1970.

Chiranjeevi: Southern Cinema Icon with a Storied Legacy
One of the current South Indian celebrities, Chiranjeevi, has acted in more than 150 feature films in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada. “Rudra Veena”, “Indra”, “Tagore”, “Swayam Krushi”, “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy”, “Stalin”, and “Gang Leader” are a few of his well-known motion pictures.

His most recent feature film appearance was in “Bhola Shankar” in 2023. He will be seen in “Vishwambhara” next. In 2006, the actor received the third-highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan.
