Jesse Malin was paralyzed after a rare spinal stroke

Jesse Malin has been paralyze from the waist down after suffering a rare spinal stroke.To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the passing of Howie Pyro, his former bandmate and best friend, the 56-year-old musician was out to dinner in New York City’s East Village on May 4th when he felt a burning pain in his back that spread to his hips and heels before he passed out.

“Everyone was standing above me like in ‘Rosemary’s Baby,’ saying all these different things,” he told Rolling Stone magazine. “I was there not knowing what was going on with my body.”

Jesse Malin was take to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York by Murphy’s Law singer Jimmy G, and is now trying to stay positive in the hope his body will recover after the “hardest six weeks” of his life.

Jesse had a stroke and spent two weeks in hospital before being transfer to a rehabilitation center. He underwent three rounds of physical therapy and rehabilitation a day and is to be discharge later this month. He needs to relocate from his walk-up apartment to one with a lift that is compliant with ADA Standards for Accessible Design, as he will be in a wheelchair. The reports from the doctors have been tough, but Jesse is determine to recover his body.It has been an emotional time for the star.
