Controversial Church Scene in Sunny Deol’s ‘Jaat’ Sparks Outrage Among Christian Community
In the controversial scene from the film Jaat, actor Randeep Hooda’s character is reportedly shown standing beneath a large crucifix inside a church. The setting is solemn, with worshippers engaged in prayer, highlighting the sanctity of the moment. However, the character’s positioning directly above the holy pulpit — a sacred space in Christian tradition — has sparked outrage. According to reports, the character’s presence is not passive; the scene allegedly depicts acts of intimidation, including aggressive gestures and a disrespectful demeanor. This behavior in such a sacred environment has been deemed offensive by many in the Christian community, leading to accusations of intentionally hurting religious sentiments. Critics of the film argue that the portrayal distorts the peaceful essence of the religious setting and crosses a line between creative expression and religious insensitivity.
The complainant alleged that the film was released during Good Friday and Easter to provoke Christians and incite riots. They demanded a ban on the movie due to this intentional timing.
Sunny Deol’s new action film ‘Jaat’ stars Randeep Hooda as the antagonist. It features an ensemble cast including Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, Prashant Bajaj, Zarina Wahab, and Jagapathi Babu. It marks Gopichand Malineni’s Hindi directorial debut; he previously directed Telugu films like Don Seenu, Bodyguard, and Veera Simha Reddy.
