The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced plans to take the Champions Trophy on a nationwide tour. Sparking controversy due to the inclusion of locations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of the itinerary.
The announcement comes amid a major controversy. As the BCCI has firmly stated that the Indian team. Will not travel to Pakistan due to ongoing tensions and security concerns. Pakistan is set to host the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.
“Prepare yourselves, Pakistan! The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 trophy tour begins in Islamabad on 16 November. With stops at picturesque locations such as Skardu, Murree, Hunza, and Muzaffarabad,” the PCB announced in a post on Thursday.
What caught attention in the PCB’. Social media post was the explicit mention of Skardu, Hunza, and Muzaffarabad, all located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). A contested region that India claims as part of its territory.

ICC Explores Options as PCB Moves Forward with Champions Trophy Plans
The ongoing standoff has unsettle the International Cricket Council (ICC). With reports suggesting that it is exploring various solutions to prevent the tournament from being without cricket giant India. A hybrid model, where India’s matches would be play in the UAE. The ICC, however, has yet to make a final decision on the tournament’s venue.

Previously, the International Cricket Council (ICC) called off a significant event plan to mark the 100-day countdown to the Champions Trophy, which was schedule for November 11 in Lahore. The cancellation was due to challenges, particularly with scheduling India’s matches.
The ICC has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that India will not be traveling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. In an email to the PCB, the global cricketing body confirmed India’s decision to opt out of participating in the tournament in Pakistan.
PCB spokesperson Sami Ul Hasan was quote by AFP as saying, “The Pakistan Cricket Board has receive an email from the ICC, stating that the Indian board has informed them that their team will not be traveling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025.”

The BCCI has reportedly notified the global cricket body about the Indian government’s refusal to grant permission for the team to travel to Pakistan for the prestigious event.
Pakistan is set to host the eight-nation event across three cities—Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi—from February 19 to March 9 next year. However, the final schedule remains uncertain as India has yet to confirm its participation.
Since the ICC announced that Pakistan would host the 2025 Champions Trophy, there have been concerns about India’s participation due to ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries. However, Pakistan did travel to India for the 2016 T20 World Cup and the 2023 50-over World Cup.
Since their last bilateral series in the 2012-13 season, India and Pakistan have only met in ICC multi-nation events. Pakistan did not host any international cricket between 2009 and 2015 following the attack on the Sri Lanka team by gunmen 15 years ago.
