Israeli actor Gal Gadot’s special day was marred by protesting crowds. On Tuesday, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame outside Los Angeles’ El Capitan Theater. Surrounded by family and Hollywood colleagues, the celebration was disrupted by Pro-Israel and Pro-Palestine demonstrators gathered outside.
As Gal’s Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and first Hollywood co-star Vin Diesel sang praises of her during the ceremony, protestors shouted a varied mix of slogans. A few raised banners of ‘Hamas No Mas’ while other raised the Palestinian and Israeli flags. “Qatar controls Hamas, free the hostages,” read another placard.
Protests and Controversy at Gal Gadot’s Walk of Fame Ceremony
According to a report by Variety, protesters chanted slogans like “Up up with liberation, down down with occupation,” while one person remarked, “There’s no reason we should be celebrating an Israeli,” in reference to Gal Gadot. Despite the tensions, the ceremony proceeded, though it started 15 minutes late, and the crowd’s chants remained audible throughout.
Gal was joined by her husband, Jaron Varsano, at the ceremony. Their four daughters—Alma, 13, Maya, 8, Daniella, 3, and Ori, 13 months—were also present. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed gratitude for the recognition. She shared that the star would serve as a reminder that with hard work, passion, and faith, anything is possible.

A vocal supporter of Israel, Gal has consistently expressed solidarity with her home country. She recently received an award from the Anti-Defamation League, recognizing her advocacy and stance on global issues concerning Israel.
In her acceptance speech, she condemned recent violence, stating, “Never did I imagine that we would witness a day of such death and destruction of Jews in our lifetime. And never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas, but celebrating, justifying, and cheering on a massacre of Jews.”
