The incident emerged when two unidentified men scammed an Ahmedabad bullion trader with fake notes featuring Bollywood actor Anupam Kher instead of Mahatma Gandhi.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher is a treasured figure in Indian cinema, but counterfeiters in Gujarat increased his prominence by using his image on fake ₹500 notes totaling ₹1.6 crore.

Interestingly, the fake notes bear “Resole Bank of India” instead of “Reserve Bank of India.” Images of these notes have gone viral on social media, eliciting shock and amusement from many users.

Anupam Kher Amused by Fake Currency Incident

He captioned, “My photo instead of Gandhi’s on a ₹500 note? Anything can happen!”
