Rajasthan is scheduled for polling in the first phase of election

Polling will take place in the following twelve Lok Sabha seats: Churu, Nagaur, Ganganagar, Jhunjhunu, Bikaner, Sikar, Jaipur Rural, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, and Dausa, from 7 am to 6 pm. According to chief electoral officer Praveen Gupta, a total of 2.54 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in the first phase on Friday.

In the 2014 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured all 25 seats in Rajasthan independently. However, in 2019, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won all 25 seats, with the BJP winning 24 seats and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) securing one seat.
One of the prominent constituencies, Nagaur, is poised for a closely contested battle between the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) candidate, former MP Hanuman Beniwal, in alliance with the Congress, and the BJP candidate, former Congress MP Jyoti Mirdha.

Rajasthan: Some of the results of 2019 elections

In the 2019 elections, Beniwal, with the support of the BJP, defeated Mirdha, who was then representing the Congress. However, Beniwal parted ways with the NDA in 2020 due to disagreements over the farmer’s agitation issue.

In the Churu Lok Sabha constituency, former BJP MP Rahul Kaswan is contesting as a Congress candidate against BJP candidate Devendra Jhajharia, a paralympic athlete.

Dalit leader and Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, who has been representing the Bikaner Lok Sabha seat since 2009, is contesting the Lok Sabha elections for the fourth time. He is facing competition from Congress candidate and former state minister Govind Ram Meghwal.
