Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is set to embark on her electoral journey starting Thursday, November 28, with her official oath-taking as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha. This significant event will coincide with the swearing-in of fellow party leader Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan. Marking a notable day for the Congress party.

Gandhi Family Unites in Parliament

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s entry into Parliament is a family affair, as she is accompanied by her mother, Sonia Gandhi. Additionally, her brother Rahul Gandhi and husband Robert Vadra will also be present to support her during the oath-taking ceremony. This gathering ensures that all prominent members of the Gandhi family are now represented in Parliament.

Resounding Victory in Wayanad Bypolls

Priyanka Gandhi secured the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat with an impressive margin of 410,931 votes in the recent bypolls, which were held alongside the 2024 Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections. The bypoll was necessitated after Rahul Gandhi chose to retain his stronghold in Rae Bareli. Vacating the Wayanad seat he had won in the April Lok Sabha elections. The contest in Wayanad saw Priyanka compete against BJP’s Navya Haridas and CPI leader Sathyan Mokeri, ultimately triumphing in this Congress bastion.

Strengthening the Gandhi Legacy in Parliament

With her victory in Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joins her brother Rahul Gandhi, who serves as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and their mother Sonia Gandhi, a Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan. Although Priyanka received fewer total votes (622,338) compared to Rahul’s 647,445 in the April elections. Her larger margin of victory underscores her strong mandate from the voters. This achievement not only marks her successful entry into national politics but also reinforces the Gandhi family’s enduring presence and influence in Indian Parliament.
