BJP led NDA, secured 293 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election

BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which secured 293 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, surpassing the majority mark of 272, will establish the new government on Saturday. Narendra Modi will be sworn in as Prime Minister for an unprecedented third consecutive term.

This afternoon, Mr. Modi was unanimously elected as the leader of the alliance and was commended for his “leadership” and the “progress our nation has made under him.” His dedication and efforts towards nation-building were also acknowledged.

NDA partners highlighted Mr. Modi’s vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and affirmed their commitment to this objective, praising his role in enhancing India’s global standing.

Delegation of senior BJP leaders and NDA partners planned to meet President

Earlier today, NDA leaders convened at Mr. Modi’s residence to analyze the election results and discuss the formation of the government. Following this, a delegation of senior BJP leaders and NDA partners planned to meet President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to stake their claim to form the government.

There has been speculation that Mr. Naidu and Nitish Kumar might be approached by the opposition INDIA bloc, which ended up with 232 seats (40 short of a majority) and is considering a bid to form the government.

To counter this, the BJP has obtained written letters of support from the leaders of the TDP and JDU. Mr. Modi and the BJP are fully aware of the significance of these parties to the NDA.

During his victory speech on Tuesday night at the party headquarters in Delhi, he made special mention of the TDP and JDU leaders.
