People of Amethi Count on Me as Their Representative: Robert Vadra

The businessman Robert Vadra, who is married to Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, discussed his chances of running for office in the Lok Sabha from Amethi, a Congress stronghold up until 2019, on Thursday. He stated that the “people of the constituency expect him to be their representative.”

Additionally, he attacked Smriti Irani, the incumbent BJP MP from Amethi, claiming that the constituents believe they made a mistake in choosing her.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Vadra responded, “The people of Amethi expect me to represent their constituency if I decide to become a member of Parliament,” when asked if he will fight from Amethi.The Gandhi family put forth a lot of effort in Rae Bareli, Amethi, and Sultanpur for many years.The Amethi people believe they made a mistake in electing the incumbent Member of Parliament, and they are deeply worried by her.

In one of the biggest upsets of the polls, Irani defeated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Amethi, a stronghold of the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Vadra did, however, state that the Congress leadership will decide on Amethi and Rae Bareli. “I’m not saying that Priyanka or I will run from Rae Bareli or Amethi, respectively. The Congress party will make the decision, he declared.

Congress Yet to Name Amethi, Rae Bareli Candidates; Vadra Gets Cross-Party Offers

In Uttar Pradesh, where it is running in the Lok Sabha elections in coalition with the Samajwadi Party, the Congress has not yet announced its candidates for the seats of Amethi and Rae Bareli.

Vadra added that he has previously been approached to run in elections by a number of MPs from different parties. I talk to individuals, and there are members of parliament from various parties. The MPs invite me to join their party and inquire about the cause of the postponement. Additionally, they guarantee my backing, which is why several parties nationwide are requesting that I accompany them. Beyond party lines, I have friendships with a lot of people,” he remarked.
