Kumar secured a seat in the Rajya Sabha on March 16. The Constitution requires elected members to vacate one position within a fixed period. Authorities set a 14-day deadline for this transition. March 30 marked the final day to fulfill this obligation.

The Prohibition of Simultaneous Membership Rules, 1950 restrict individuals from holding seats in both Parliament and a state legislature. These provisions operate under Articles 101 and 190 of the Constitution. Lawmakers must resign from one post within the stipulated timeframe. Kumar’s resignation aligns with these legal provisions.
Meanwhile, Nitin Nabin is also expected to resign from the Bihar Assembly. Party sources indicated that he will complete the formalities soon. His resignation had been delayed due to an urgent meeting in Delhi. Leaders expect the process to conclude without further delay.
Sanjay Sarogi is likely to submit Nabin’s resignation formally. Party officials stated that both leaders aimed to complete the required steps on Monday. The developments reflect compliance with constitutional norms. Authorities continue to monitor the process to ensure smooth execution.
