RSP Takes Lead Across 47 Constituencies in Nepal Polls

RSP has taken an early lead in the Nepal General Election 2026. The result shows a major shift in Nepal’s politics. The newly formed Rastriya Swatantra Party leads in 47 out of 57 constituencies. Officials continue the early vote counting. Nepal held the election after massive Gen Z protests. These protests brought down the coalition government led by KP Sharma Oli. Many young voters supported the new political force. Former rapper and Kathmandu mayor Balendra Shah leads the RSP. The party now challenges traditional political groups. Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) trail in early trends.

RSP Gains Early Lead in Election Results

The RSP, led by former rapper and Kathmandu mayor Balendra Shah, has emerged as the biggest contender in early counting. The party is ahead in dozens of seats across the country. Party sources also claim that the RSP has already secured victories in three constituencies. These include Kathmandu-1, Kathmandu-7, and Kathmandu-8. Candidates Ranju Darshana, Ganesh Parajuli, and Biraj Bhakta Shrestha are reported to have won these seats. However, the Election Commission of Nepal has not officially confirmed all the results yet. Meanwhile, other major parties are trailing. The Communist Party of Nepal-UML, led by KP Sharma Oli, is leading in five seats. The Nepali Congress, led by Gagan Thapa, is ahead in four constituencies. The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal, is leading in two seats. The pro-monarchist Rastriya Prajatantra Party is currently ahead in one constituency.

The rise of the RSP shows a major change in Nepal’s political landscape. Many young voters support the party’s fresh approach. The popularity of Balendra Shah has also boosted the party’s appeal. Shah first gained national attention when he won the Kathmandu mayoral election. His victory challenged traditional political parties. Now, the RSP is trying to expand its influence in national politics. Analysts believe the election could reshape the country’s leadership. Meanwhile, about 60 percent voter turnout was recorded in the polls. Counting is still underway across several constituencies. Final results are expected soon. Political observers say the RSP may play a key role in forming the next government if the current trend continues.
