Shinde Calls Meeting with Amit Shah and JP Nadda ‘Positive’

Amid uncertainty over the Chief Minister’s post in the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, caretaker CM Eknath Shinde described his late-night meeting with Union Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda as “good and positive.” Shinde confirmed that while this was the first meeting, the final decision on the CM candidate would be taken in another meeting scheduled in Mumbai.

Shinde Stresses Unity and ‘Ladla Bhai’ Title

Ahead of the meeting, Eknath Shinde reiterated his commitment to alliance unity, stating there were no obstacles regarding the CM selection. Referring to himself as “Ladla Bhai,” a title he values deeply. Shinde emphasized his readiness to accept any decision made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the leadership role.

Mahayuti Leaders Discuss Power Sharing

Key leaders of the Mahayuti alliance, including Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar. Convened with Amit Shah and JP Nadda in Delhi to discuss the new government’s formation. Sources indicate the BJP will hold the CM’s post, while two deputy CM positions are likely to go to its allies, the Shiv Sena (led by Shinde) and the NCP (led by Pawar). The BJP’s CM candidate is expected to be finalized in a meeting of MLAs on Saturday in Mumbai.

Fadnavis Denies Internal Differences in Alliance

Addressing speculation about internal rifts, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis affirmed that decisions in the Mahayuti alliance are made collectively. He highlighted the alliance’s unity and clarified that the CM decision would follow consultations with all leaders. The alliance’s delay in announcing its CM comes despite the BJP emerging as the largest party with 132 seats in the 280-member Maharashtra Assembly. Supported by Shiv Sena and NCP, which secured 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
